Protecting Natural Floodplain Functions

Juno Hills Scrub site, 148 acres north of Donald Ross Road and west of U.S. Hwy 1 and 42 acres east of U.S. Hwy 1 and 341 acres south of Donald Ross Road and east of Ellison Wilson Road have been designated as Environmentally Sensitive Lands (ESL). These undisturbed natural areas of Juno Beach act as a natural storage area for flood waters which reduce the possibility of flooding nearby residences and help to recharge our groundwater aquifer. Please help keep this area natural and beautifu; by reporting any illegal dumping and/or littering violations to the Town at (561)626-1122.

Please Note:
  • When rainfall drains into the ground, it helps reduce flooding and recharges our drinking water supply.
  • It is important to appreciate natural floodplains
  • It is illegal to throw anything into the lakes, canals, or other waterways in the Town.
  • Dumping materials into standing waters or drains pollutes the waters, clogs the storm drains, and increases flooding in neighborhoods.

Protect the Drainage System

It is illegal for any direct or indirect entry of solid, liquid, or gaseous matter to enter the drainage system. Proper drainage will help reduce the risk of flooding. Town staff inspects the drainage system and removes any blockages that are found or reported. If you live near Pelican Lake or other areas where waters flow, you can help in this process by keeping the areas clear of debris. Reports of any violations should be made to the Code Enforcement Officer at (561)627-0818.
