Brian Smith
Chief Brian J. Smith has over 34 years of law enforcement experience after serving 20 years with the New York City Police Department. During his career with N.Y.P.D., Chief Smith was assigned to several high priority assignments such as the Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit, Anti-Crime Unit, Vice Unit, and Community Policing Unit. Following the devastating events of September 11, 2001, in the rank of Lieutenant, he was assigned to supervise rescue and recovery operations as well as security operations at "Ground Zero" (World Trade Center site.)
Chief Smith began his career with the Juno Beach Police Department in April 2009. As Chief of Police of the Juno Beach Police Department, Chief Smith has served as Chairman of the Palm Beach County Law Enforcement Exchange (LEX), Chairman of the Palm Beach County Public/Private Workgroup, President of the Palm Beach County Association of Chiefs of Police, District Director for the Florida Police Chiefs Association and Chairperson for the Palm Beach Law Enforcement Planning Council.
Chief Smith earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from The State University of New York, Empire State College. Chief Smith graduated from the 251st Session of the F.B.I. National Academy.
