Floodplain Committee
FLOOD MITIGATION COMMITTEE (A/K/A FLOODPLAIN COMMITTEE)
The Committee members provide invaluable input concerning problem identifications, goals and objectives, and mitigation actions and strategies for the Mitigation Plan. These stakeholders also supplement flood data from reports, personal knowledge or experiences. The Flood Mitigation Plan must be implemented through an Action Plan which includes a variety of activities, ranging from implementing specific mitigation projects to advocating code requirements for developers. To ensure the success of the ongoing program, it is critical that the plan remains relevant. Thus, it is important to conduct periodic evaluations and make revisions as needed. The committee meets at least once a year with additional meetings, as needed.
The Committee is composed of four Town staff members, one from each of the relevant Town Departments, and nine Stakeholders (residents and business owners in the community).
